Christmas Eve and Kaden update

We spent Christmas Eve with my parents doing our traditional fondue dinner. It was lots of fun as usual! We then came to our apartment to put Kade to bed and played another two games of Settlers of Catan. It has been a full year since we started playing and Luke and my dad can never get enough.

Luke is responsible for shoveling the walks at the mortuary and there has been plenty of work for him this week trying to keep them clear. Kade and I went out with him this morning to keep him company and Kade had a great time looking at all the snow. It was a wonderful white Christmas.
Kade has progressed so much in this last week. Last Friday he had one tooth and could kind of crawl one or two feet. But now, he cut his second tooth on the 23 (his 8 month mark), cut his third tooth this morning, really got the hang of crawling yesterday and has been moving all over, learned how to turn pages when we are reading books, and just seems so much older. We love you Kader-ator!

Merry Christmas!

Chrismas dinner. . .yummy!

We hosted my parents and Mark and Mitzi and their four girls for Christmas dinner. We had a great dinner, played games and just enjoyed the day.

We had fun on Christmas morning although Kade didn't seem to know what all the fuss was about. Usually he loves paper and boxes but he wasn't interested so he jumped in his jolly jumper for a while and Luke and I opened presents. Once everything was open Kade found a couple pieces of wrapping paper he liked.

My first violin recital

Today was my first violin recital. I played Glockenspiel by Mozart. It went well and my mom gave me a ride to the recital--just like all the other little kids. Luke had to work (he is working at Brick Oven for the three weeks off from school) and my dad volunteered to stay home with Kade so it worked out well.

Thanks for your support Mom! She said that this was the easiest time she ever had taking me to a recital--no whining or fighting or anything like when she had to drag us to piano recitals when Janetta and I were younger

My wonderful teacher Megan.

The budding musician.

But do you recall. . .the cutest reindeer of all!

We had these pictures taken at my work Christmas party. It was cold that night so we had bundled Kade up in his cute deer suit and he was a hit at the party. We are getting excited for Christmas! A few inches of snow fell today and it looks beautiful.

Turkey Day Adventures

We spent Thanksgiving with Luke's family in their beautiful new home outside Sacramento. It was our first time visiting them up in Northern California and we had a great time. We also were able to see the King's new house and visit with Grandpa and Grandma as well as Aunt Kathy, Marianne and Lynsee. Dinner was scrumptious and it was a fun trip all around.

A cute turkey hat from Grandma!

Our happy little traveler. He was so good on our long days of driving. I had to work on Friday night, so we woke up at 4, drove all day, arrived in Provo and I took a nap and then went off to work!

Our "a-drawer-able" little guy now loves to hang onto handles on dressers and desks.

Hopefully he just likes the feel of the metal on his tooth and gums and doesn't have pica :)

The King returns for Halloween!

Kade made a pretty cute Elvis Prestley with his great jumpsuit featuring an eagle and sequined belt and flared legs. What is most amazing is how he was able to grow such good sideburns to go along with his costume! We had a fun day full of food and family. We celebrated Kara's birthday and went to Tucanos with Luke's fam, ate our traditional pizza dinner with my parents, and went to our ward Halloween party. Happy November 1st!

A New Bag of Tricks

Kade is now 6 months old! Hard to believe it! He has all kinds of new skills including #1: playing in his jolly jumper. The picture doesn't make it out to look like he enjoys it at all, but when he gets in a few good jumps in a row and goes air-born then we get some good smiles.

Skill #2: He is an accomplished sitter.

Skill #3: He has entered the ranks of professional boxing and can take down opponents 8 times his size! That is sweat on his shirt from working hard--not drool :)

Skill #4: He has outgrown his infant carrier carseat. He is now in a luxurious and larger carseat and likes being up higher and looking around while we are driving. This is his new Britax Marathon, a wonderful baby shower gift from Grandpa and Grandma.

Skill #5: He is a stink bug sleeper. What a cutie!

Our Apologies

Hi Aunt Char, I am sorry that there are no cute pictures of me posted today like my mom promised to do. Last night our power was out and our internet didn't work. She will get some pictures up soon. I love you and I'm excited to see you soon! Love, Kade

The moving mess!

We were excited this past weekend to move into the other apartment above the mortuary. It is significantly larger and we figure since Kade will crawl, walk and then run before Luke is finished with school and we move out, that it is worth it to spend the time moving to the bigger apartment. Luke rounded up a bunch of his friends and they moved all the furniture and heavy things on Friday night. We were out of the other one by Saturday night and are mostly into our new one. Kade was a good helper :)

Wrapped around his finger!

Kade effectively has finagled his way into our hearts and is our favorite! I don't know if it's the contagious smile, the oh-so-cute laugh or the evolving facial expressions that keep us begging for more! (Kade is the baby; Luke, my handsome husband, also has these characteristics and I must be very flexible as I wrap around two fingers)

He is getting so good at grabbing and holding on to things and now he gets mad at these toys on his swing because he can't pull them down far enough to get in his mouth.

Looking very handsome in his sweater vest.

No pictures :(

I was wondering why I don't have any pictures from recent weeks to put on the blog. Here are my reasons: 1) When I went to Seattle to visit Janetta, Luke went hunting and took the camera. 2) While Luke and his friend Dave were coming back from hunting, the brakes went out in their truck--luckily they weren't hurt and it turned out okay, but the truck sat up in Heber at a repair shop for a week. 3) After Luke got his things back that were in the truck, we didn't bring the camera up from Luke's Jeep. And so, alas, we have no pictures of our adorable Kade for the past few weeks except the ones from Janetta.

But we are doing well. Kade continues to grow like a weed and is now 19 pounds! He smiles, rolls over, holds onto toys, has a wide repertoire of sounds, and makes us happy. Luke started school and is enjoying it so far. Tiff is working 2/7 and liking being home for 5/7 nights a week. We get to move into the bigger apartment at the mortuary some time this month and will post some pics of it when we are settled.

Baby update

We have successfully transferred Kade to his crib in his own room. Here is our little buckaroo's cute cowboy blanket from Aunt Shawny.

He is just so sweet!

He loves sitting up in his Bumbo so he can see what is going on.

I had Kade all dressed for swimming with our ward and he fell asleep so he didn't actually get in the pool. This shows off his rolly polly legs and chubby feet :)

I am back at work now (2 nights a week) and Kade takes his bottle well now. He ate 10oz at one sitting for Grandma! We love our little monkey boy.

Busy Month!

The summer is flying by! We went on a fun trip down to Whittier to visit Luke's family and Kade met that side of the family. We spent a day at Disneyland, and celebrated Father's Day, Kara's graduation from high school, and Shawnelle's birthday. Kaden had his 2 month check-up and now weighs over 14 pounds! (Probably even more now since that was 2 weeks ago.) He has cute chunky arms and legs and the best smile :) We gained a new nephew when Miles joined the family and were so excited to meet him for the 4th of July weekend. Kaden was blessed on July 6th with lots of family around from both sides--we love you and thanks for your support.

6 Weeks Out

Baby Kade is cuter every day! Here he is just hanging out in his Boppy pillow. He loves sticking out his tongue! He is out of his newborn size clothes and looking good in his 0-3 month ones. Tiff is happy because she is back into most of her own clothes and has the green light to exercise. We have taken our jogging stroller out on a few trial expeditions and look forward to a jogging summer! Luke is working as a server at Brick Oven and Tiff is loving maternity leave.

Daddy's little buddy

Kaden has developed a pretty good double chin and is getting such cute chubby arms and legs.

Luke and Kade like to do everything together including:

Nap time. . .

Riding in the carrier. . .

And just hanging out!
